LARAC Conference and Celebration Awards would not be able to take place if it were not for the financial support of the companies and organisations that sponsor this event. If you are attending the conference and/or awards please take time to speak with all of the sponsors - they offer a variety of products and services which could have a positive impact on your work!
As a company with more than 100 years’ of experience in
providing environmental services in partnership with local authorities, we are
delighted to be sponsoring this year’s LARAC Conference and Celebration Awards.
The Conference and Awards provide opportunities for local authorities and their
waste management partners to network, share best practice and learn from each
other as well as rewarding success.
At FCC Environment, we are particularly looking forward to highlighting the benefits and achievements of our re-use partnerships with local authorities and charities. They are a real win for everyone as items are salvaged for re-use instead of going to landfill, local residents can buy some great goods at great prices and the charity running the shop is able to generate much needed income.
We led the way in 2012 by helping Buckinghamshire County Council to become one of the first local authorities to deliver its reuse service through a local charity. Items fit for re-use are salvaged from the household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) which we manage on behalf of the council and then sold on through the South Bucks Hospice shops located at the High Wycombe and Aston Clinton HWRCs. The income is then recycled to help fund the running costs of the Buckinghamshire hospice.
In 2014, we opened two more charity re-use shops at the Katharine House Hospice shop at Staffordshire County Council’s HWRC in Cannock and the Chapter 1 shop at Warwickshire County Council’s Judkins HWRC in Nuneaton. We also have plans to open more charity re-use shops with our local authority and charity partners in the future so watch this space!
